The first Sidney Crosby vs. Alex Oveckin playoff series since 2009 gets underway Monday night as the Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Washington Capitals for Game 1 of their second-round tilt.

The series Eastern Conference’s top two regular-season finishers, as Ovechkin’s Capitals cruised to the Presidents’ Trophy and Crosby’s Penguins shook off a slow start to with the East’s second-best record.

Washington jumped ahead of the Philadelphia Flyers three games to zero in its first-round series before ultimately winning in six. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, took down the New York Rangers in five, beating former Vezina Trophy winner Henrik Lundqvist 10 times over the final two games.
