Manchester United hasn’t made an in-season journey to Wembley Stadium in five years, and West Ham United to extend the Red Devils’ absence to a sixth campaign.

Manchester United hosts West Ham on Sunday at Old Trafford in the FA Cup quarterfinals. The winner of the contest can look forward to trip to Wembley Stadium next month for a semifinal against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.

The teams’ respective Premier League campaigns suggest Sunday’s contest will be as tight as can be. West Ham sits fifth in the standings with 49 points after 29 games. Manchester United is one place and two points behind the Hammers after as many games. West Ham held Manchester United to a goal-less draw on Dec. 5 in their lone Premier League meeting so far this term.

They’ll face off again, but this game’s a one-off, win-or-go-home proposition in the soccer world’s oldest competition.
