According to an MCV report (citing a report in DigiTimes), Nintendo will ship between 10 -12 million units of its upcoming NX console system in its first year of release.
The information comes from an unnamed component supplier who used that figure and also claimed that Nintendo wanted to ship 20 million in 2016. Meanwhile, the report also claims that Foxconn Electronics has been chosen to manufacture the console – with production supposedly ramping up in the first quarter of 2016.
Whether it is true or not, 10 – 12 million is a lot if Nintendo can pull it off in such a short amount of time. The Wii U’s life-to-date units sold is only at 11 million and it’s been on the market since November of 2012…
Of course none of this has been confirmed by Nintendo or Foxconn.
