The next entry in the critically acclaimed Monster Hunter series is coming to North America and Europe on July 15th. Monster Hunter Generations will be available for the Nintendo 3DS, and features intense fighting with a robust crafting system and fourteen different weapon classes, all of which play uniquely from one another. Defeated monsters may be scavenged for materials, allowing players to build new and powerful weapons and armor in order to hunt bigger and badder monsters. The Monster Hunter series is set apart from other action-adventure titles by its wholly unique feel, with giant hostile creatures who often take a long time and a lot of skill and persistence to bring down.

Monster Hunter Generations was already released in Japan under the title Monster Hunter X, where it sold 1.5 million copies in the first two days. It also enjoyed positive reviews, with popular Japanese magazine Famitsu awarding the game a 36 out of 40.

To commemorate the release of Monster Hunter Generations, Nintendo is launching the New Nintendo 3DS XL Monster Hunter Generations Edition. In simpler terms, it is a new model of 3DS, with slick blue coloration and artwork from the game. A copy of Monster Hunter Generations is not included with the new 3DS model, making it a somewhat niche collectors’ item.

Monster Hunter Generations features over twenty different locations, with loads of new monsters to fight, including the new Fated Four, an especially fierce collection of baddies. New features include the ability to equip Hunter Arts, and the option of choosing from four different Hunting Styles. Players can tackle the game solo, or with up to three other players via local or online cooperative play. A demo of the new game will be available on the Nintendo eShop prior to launch sometime this summer.
