Dell India, the world’s fastest growing large integrated IT Company, today marked the beginning of Dell PC Literacy Days a technology awareness initiative to commemorate the World PC Literacy Day on December 2nd. Dell is focused on building technology for the growing Indian knowledge economy and believes that the PC is the core tool for technological enablement. The company has been synchronizing its efforts to increase PC awareness, usage and adoption in India, where less than 10% of the total population is benefiting from PC technology adoption.
The Dell PC Literacy Days will begin on December 1st and go on until December 20th, 2015. This period will see a comprehensive customer outreach program wherein Dell aims to empower and educate potential users on the benefits of owning a PC for existing as well future users. The program is designed to promote awareness about the basic uses of the PC and educate users on how access to computing can add value to their lives. The PC Literacy Days campaign will reach out to consumers through both the online as well as offline routes.
To kick-start this campaign, Dell is launching a series of strategic initiatives, the first of which is an easy financing option for Dell customers. With the aim to reach out to ‘first-time buyers’ and to make the purchase of the PC simpler and more attractive, customers can take home a Dell Inspiron Notebook or Desktop PC at just Rs.749/-, paying the rest in easy EMIs at 0% interest in 6 instalments. Through the easy financing options available from Dell, customers will have easy access to purchasing a device either for individual use or for their homes.
Dell’s commitment to take the PC to the masses is also being reiterated in the flagship ‘Go Rural’ program that focuses solely on taking the Dell experience to Tier 3-5 towns. Today, Dell has a retail presence in over 1100 cities across the country, with a Dell Exclusive Store presence in 350+ cities across the country. Through the Go Rural program, Mobile Dell Exclusive Stores will travel to these towns to engage with customers in their hometown and enable them to touch and feel their devices of choice. Apart from bringing the Dell Rs.749/- Consumer offer closer to customers across Tier 3-5 markets, the Mobile stores will also help educate customers on which computing solution from Dell is best suited to their technology needs.
In addition to this, during the PC Literacy Days, customers can walk into any Dell Exclusive Store (DES), and avail PC Literacy Training and certification worth Rs.599/-, free of cost. Dell Campassadors, who are college student ambassadors for the brand in their respective institutions, will also be holding an hour long training session between 2nd and 4th December to further the aim of spreading PC literacy among future users of the PC. 14 Campassadors from 7 colleges in Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Coimbatore, Delhi and Hyderabad will be touching 50 students per day, per college through this outreach. Dell through its Employee Volunteer program will also be engaging with the Dream-A-Dream foundation in Bangalore to connect with 2000+ students to encourage PC literacy and empower them with knowledge on PC usage basics.
The Dell PC Literacy Days campaign will see extensive online engagement through Facebook and Twitter. The online engagement will be interactive and will invite the audience to share as well as gain knowledge on subjects such as security, productivity, reliability and the latest technology. Participating consumers will also get the chance to take part in exciting quizzes and contests.
“Our focus has been on consistently building up the knowledge economy that India is blooming into, by taking technology to the masses. Through the Dell PC Literacy Days program, we wish to create awareness around a practical approach to technology and increase user knowledge and confidence by addressing everyday concerns like how to use a PC or securing your data. The campaign is aimed at shedding light on the everyday benefits of using a PC, be it at an individual level or for an entire household. The PC is the perfect companion for both work and play, in everyday living and can complement the personal and professional ambitions of our customers. This initiative ties in with our overarching goal to spearhead technological enablement through PC adoption, across the country”, said Ritu Gupta, Director, Marketing, Dell India.
To further amplify the message on how Computer literacy can enable people, Dell will also be launching a 360 degree campaign including on ground events, radio and print outreach in 140+ cities across the country to take the Dell PC Literacy Days program and Consumer offer to the masses. About Dell
