‘Dark Souls III’ Reviews: Know how the game fares!

The much anticipated third installment to the Dark Souls franchise: “Dark Souls III” was recently released into the gaming world. Is it worth buying? How did it do with game reviewers?

For those of you not in the know, the “Dark Souls” series is a third-person action role-playing game produced by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The games are set in a dark and dreary medieval universe packed with dangerous enemies, mythical beasts, hauntingly beautiful environments, and the infamously insane difficulty in its creature, mini-boss, and boss battles.

Seriously, the difficulty of this game is ruthless but also very rewarding. This dynamic keeps players satisfied with their glutton for punishment as the feeling of beating a seemingly impossible level fills one with pride and jubilation.

The million dollar question is: Does the game live up to the hype and do justice to the series’ past installments? The reception for “Dark Souls III” has been overwhelmingly positive so far. The game has garnered universal praise and acclaim for even the staunchest of game reviewers.

According to PC Gamer, who scored the game 94/100, the level design is full of wonder and the masterfully crafted story telling mechanics make this installment of Dark Souls the best one yet. IGN chimed in, scoring the game an essential 9.5/10, reporting that the combat was executed to a “T” with adding more stylish combat maneuvers and amazing weapon arts without getting in the way of its core combat system.

Mashable reports that although the game is very well done, “Dark Souls III” is starting to show the wear and tear of the franchise at its core. They termed as “Dark Souls fatigue,” and that a Dark Souls IV would not be as successful as this one. Still, Mashable admitted to having a stellar experience with the game and a worthy sendoff to the franchise as rumors suggest that this could be the final installment to a legendary series.

Gamespot scored it a great 8/10 and had some beautifully harrowing words to describe the journey of the Dark Souls franchise. They stated, “There are several possible endings to Dark Souls III, and although most are anticlimactic, they drive home the loneliness of the paths we took…This is the essence of Dark Souls III: periods of doubt, followed by great reward. The journey may be rocky, but there’s a throne waiting at the end.”

“Dark Souls III” is now available for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
